- Void
is the best skill to max early, as the damage increase and slow allow you
to use it to kill your desired target.
- Crippling Fear is most effective during the
night. Use it when you are ganking during the night time. An enemy
affected by Crippling Fear will be silenced and blinded, making the
ability a powerful debuff on your target.
- Balanar has one of the highest
overall defense in the game with a starting armor of 5, one of the highest
Strength in the game, and the third highest Agility among Strength heroes. Balanar is a
powerful semi-carry with great durability and an amazing skillset.
- Hunter in the Night empowers his attack
speed and movement speed superbly during the night, making him the best
ganker during the earliest parts of the game.
- Night Stalker will greatly
benefit from being on the same team as a Luna.
Her Lunar Blessing will give him bonus damage
and her Eclipse will turn the time of the day to
night for 10 seconds. This 10 seconds is often significant enough for the
Night Stalker to set in and go for the kill.
- Using Darkness during night time will prolong the
duration of the night, allowing Night Stalker to ultimately change the
time to his favor.
- During the night, most heroes
have below average vision, rendering them to be ineffective on chases and
gives enemies a chance to hide the blind spot. Night Stalker, however, is
at home in this time and has full vision, allowing him to effectively
chase without getting obscured on his sight. With Aghanim's Scepter,
he gains full unobstructed vision, allowing to see through trees, higher terrains, and even spy at Roshan in his base.

- The vision granted on Thunder
Strike's target is great for negating jukes, and at later levels Glimpse
can ensure an enemy cannot escape.
- If you see an enemy teleporting
to a tower, Glimpse can send them right back where they started. This can
be crucial to cut off reinforcements when tower-diving.
- But watch out, Glimpse has a
really long cooldown even at level 4. So when at teamfights make sure to
use it when you really need it.
- Kinetic Field's formation time
is significant, so try and combine it with allied disables to ensure
capture.
- A mark will indicate where a
Glimpsed target will return, so you can cast Kinetic Field around the
mark to ensure capture.
- If you can trap 3 or more
enemies inside a Kinetic Field/Static Storm combo you will shift the tide
of battle greatly in your team's favor as the enemies will be left without
their arsenal of spells and will take significant damage over time. This
is usually better achieved as a follow up to another initiation such as Magnus's Reverse Polarity.
- Due to its low starting damage,
Static Storm will also benefit from an allied initiation before placement.
- Static Storm can act as an
instant silence thanks to Disruptor's miniscule castpoint. Use it to
interrupt channeling abilities.

- Mystic Snake should be maxed
first as it is Medusa's only nuke and primary farming tool.
- Try to aim Mystic Snakes to
bounce off enemy creeps before hitting heroes to maximize their effects.
- On a standard lane creep wave
of 3 melees and 1 ranged, a level 4 Mystic Snake that bounces on the
melees first will instantly kill the ranged creep on contact.
- As more creeps are added to
the waves, a few attacks with Split Shot active should be used before
casting Mystic Snake to ensure lasthits.
- Split Shot and Mana Shield are
both highly item-dependant abilities. Consider spending pre-level 6 points
in Attribute Bonus for a small but more tangible boost in power.
- By activating Split Shot before
you use Manta Style or
Illusion rune, the illusions will gain the Split Shot ability, which is a
very good boost in terms of increasing your DPS.
- Be wary about leaving Mana
Shield active in the early game without a high manapool or some mana regen
items. Heavy damage may leave you unable to cast Stone Gaze, which can
turn the tides of a gank or teamfight when used correctly.
- When pushing, activate Split
Shot when attacking towers to whittle down an incoming creep wave.
- You should always have a Town Portal Scroll
in order to escape incoming ganks and as well as for defending your base.
It is especially useful for countering engagements and tower dives, as
Stone Gaze severely punishes teams who commit to a fight.
- It is possible to farm ancients
with Medusa at level 1 by putting a point into Split Shot. However, it requires
juking into the jungle, and may need more skill to perform in on the Dire
ancients.
- Remember that Petrified heroes
will take no damage from magical attacks. This is especially important if
you have a nuke heavy team as activating Stone Gaze at the wrong time can
cost your team a battle that could have been won otherwise.
- Proper use of Stone Gaze
together with Split Shot makes Medusa a great counter to heroes that
either summon illusions, purchase Manta style in their item build or rely
heavily on their auto-attacks to do damage. Examples of these heroes would
be Phantom Lancer,
Chaos Knight and Faceless Void. Remember that a successful
Stone Gaze will clear all illusions from Medusa's vicinity.

- Brewmaster is strong against
auto-attack heroes; Thunder Clap slows down attack speed, Drunken Haze
causes them to miss, and Drunken Brawler helps him dodge attacks and deal
critical damage.
- Thunder Clap is extremely
strong at the early stages of the game, acting as his area-of-effect
cripple. It is generally leveled up first.
- Neither Drunken Haze nor
Drunken Brawler are exceptionally useful at levels 2 and 4, so it is not
uncommon to opt for stats instead.
- Against extremely strong
physical harassment (such as Sniper or Weaver), consider going for a Drunken Haze
and Drunken Brawler build to maximize your dodge chance.
- Although Phase Boots are
recommended, many opt for Arcane Boots instead if the hero is being played
in a ganking or initiator role, as it can allow you to use Thunder Clap
and Primal Split in succession much earlier and solve mana issues
- Use Primal Split sparingly, as
it has an extremely long cooldown. Try to avoid using it to run away if at
all possible.
- If Brewmaster is being played
more in the semi-carry role, consider using his ultimate as a life saver
to keep yourself in the fight when you would normally die. The utility of
the Brewlings works excellently for finishing off opponents as well as
initiation.
- When playing Brewmaster, try to
gain an advantage for your team early before anybody on the enemy carry
can build a Black King Bar. Against magic immunity, both his anti-carry
abilities and Primal Split abilities are rendered useless and must be
focused on another target.
